Yukiya Izumita gathers the clay for his Henko pot from the coasts of Iwate, Japan. His inspiration is drawn from his surroundings; waves breaking on jagged rocks jutting out of the ocean. The hand-built structure is coated with an iron-infused slip, which transforms into a rich obsidian shade as it is fired.
