Hideyuki Fujisawa transformative use of traditional lacquer materials explores the use of brushing pure layers of lacquer over a carved wooden surface. At a quick glance the bottom of the tea bowl appears as if it's dripping with a thick coat of glaze. Look closer and you will see the fine grains of the wooden surface beneath the clear lacquer.
