All of Ken Matsubara's works are layer upon layers of processed-based beauty. On top of a thick sheet of washi paper is a luscious coat of bengala red. After, he carefully applies layers of watered-down clay to create detailed texture using a stencil. He then builds up his layers with another handmade tool to make dramatic lines and finally covers the rest with painting from natural minerals he mines himself.
