Tall and imposing, Kota Arinaga’s long necked vase is a masterful expression of reticello cane technique. Part of Arinaga’s gāze series, this work highlights the traditional fishnet pattern of Venetian glass, which features diamond-shaped air pockets that are both spontaneous and playful. Gāze implies the geometrically regular space when pulling apart medical gauze.
