Like Cubism, Matsubara's subjects and objects are broken up into pieces and re-arranged in an abstract form. His inspiration for this painting is a patch of land nearby that's covered with cattle who are nibbling on grass and sunbathing in the rays. However, his main inspiration for his work at this time was from his dear teacher Sanko Inoue, who truly touched his soul.
