The traditional Japanese incense burner, or kōro, is a fixture of shrines, homes and tea gatherings; the fragrance is used to designate sacred space, create an atmosphere of welcome for guests, or provide personal enjoyment. This celadon porcelain incense burner features a delicate blue-and-black fish atop its lid. When incense is lit inside, the aromatic smoke rises around the fish and suggests the flowing surface of water.N/A
