Tsujimura formed this Ido-style tea bowl with an undulating rim that gives way to a curved conical body on a short, sturdy foot. A thin layer of translucent white glaze gives the warm red color of the clay body a rosy hue. Lines of gold lacquer indicate that the bowl was broken and repaired. This practice of kintsugi, or repairing with gold lacquer, suggests themes of destruction, renewal, and persistence.
