Biography
Hideo Kageyama (b. 1956) practice coaxes texture of his chosen materials like no other artist. His weaving techniques draw out the characteristics of the fibers, emphasizing their properties: luscious silk, supple cotton, and firm linen. During the Showa period (1926-1989), Japanese painters in Kamakura City patroned the textile shop of Hideo's father, for the kimonos Toshio Kageyama were known for their silkeness and comfort. Hideo has continued his father's techniques, yet he has also mastered the medium with a style all his own.
