Shiro Tsujimura’s painting, Untitled 2018, uses ground ceramic material painted on a surface of canvas. The material, pushed and pulled from multiple directions on the surface of the canvas, mixes with the added colors and pigments. The painting equally hides and reveals the conditions of its making. The artificial light, produced by pigments and material alike, feel like natural light. The overall structure of the painting feels confident yet moving, like clouds drifting through moonlight in the night sky.
