1936 Born in Tokushima Prefecture.
1955 Graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Shinjuku High School.
1973 Completed his doctoral course in Art History Department at Waseda
University in Tokyo.
1968 - 1970 Studied at Charles University in Prague.
1968 - 2012 Taught at Seijo University, Wako University, Tama Art University,
Waseda University, Iwate University, Gunma Prefectural Women's University,
Japan Women's University and others.
Became a visiting professor at National Taiwan University of Arts.
Served as a judge in Contemporary Art Glass at Venice Biennale, Japanese
Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Asahi Contemporary Crafts Exhibition,
Tableware Festival, Kanagawa Cloisonne Exhibition, Kanagawa Prefectural Art
Exhibition and others.
Won the 1st Kitagawa Momoo Award and Liu-sha Hai-hsi Scholarship Prize.

Solo exhibitions in Paris, Hamburg, New York and various places in Japan.
Literary works: He has written over 200 books regarding glass and history of glass.
Present position: President of Notojima Glass Studio, Representative of Architectural Glass Studio, Adviser of Hakone Venetian Glass Museum.

Throughout his entire life, he has been doing research by visiting all over the world and historic remains of the glass since he was attracted by the history of glass which is the oldest artificial material and its mystery in his youth.
As the world's leading expert on the glass study, his contribution for the world of glass, glass architecture and chemistry is immeasurable.
